Review of Street Report. Mike Rajala, Public Works Director, prepared a street report for the council to review the existing condition of the city streets and various methods of upgrading city streets. Discussion centered on whether a long range program of street upgrading should be initiated including storm sewer, permanent streets and curb and gutter, or resurface the streets with a 2" bituminous overlay mat. The latter alternavive would appear most feasible cost wise, except for possibly doing nothing other than routine patching and repairs. To include storm sewer and curb and gutter, etc., in a street program would probably put the total construction costs in the millions, but would provide a solution to the rundown streets for approximately 20 years. I a I, I I I Other methods of resurfacing dis existing bituminous mat and usin streets, and scarifying which in removing a thin layer of asphalt layer of bituminous wearing cour ussed included recycling the this material to repave the olves heating the surface, and repaving with a thin Council consensus was to table d.scussion on possible street improvements for 2 weeks to furt er study the alternates available. 5.
