City Council Agenda: 04/09/12
5F. Consideration of ratifying the FiberNet services rate structure for June 2012 -May
2013 as approved by the FiberNet Advisory Board (BR)
A. REFERENCE AND BACKGROUND:
City Council is asked to formally ratify the current FiberNet services rate structure
covering June 2012 to May 2013 as prescribed in the FiberNet Monticello governance
ordinance. As you know, HBC identified the initial rates at the time service was
instituted, working within the parameters of the business plan and with the assistance of
the Fiber Advisory Board. The rate increase is directly correlated to the cost increase
that FiberNet recently received from it content providers. This is housekeeping action
intended to formally ratify adoption of the rates currently being applied along with the
proposed changes. A letter will go out to all customers 30 days prior to the increase and
that letter is also attached.
Al. Budget Impact: None
A2. Staff Workload Impact: None
B. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS:
1. Motion to ratify the FiberNet services rate structure for June 2012 -May 2013.
2. Motion to not ratify the FiberNet services rate structure for June 2012 -May 2013.
C. STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
City staff recommends Alternative #1. The FiberNet Advisory Board formally approved
the rate structure at their February 21St meeting and recommends that it be ratified by the
City Council.
