regular meeting of the village council held this date in the village council room.
Members present- Ojakangas., Adams, Baker., Kasper,, & Swanson. Absent- None.
A letter i-ras read from Great Northern R.R. requesting that Ramsey street from
4th street south be made a private roadway. The clerk was instructed to check the
minutes to see if there .had been a previous request from the council to the
Great Northern R.R. to install R.R. crossing signs at this road and to answer the
letter requesting t1tat this road remain a public roadway.
Minutes of the meetings of September 4t.,-, and 17th were approved as read.,
Motion by Kasper to pay bills as read. Seconded by Adams and carried. A seperate list
of bills paid is on file in the office of the village clerk.
The development conmettee asked the councils openion on annexing land between
Broadway and third street and West of Chestnut, street for the purpose of developing
industry. By vote the council indicated they would be unamoully in favor of this,,
C.&L Co. representatives gave a report on the_,disclosuresof there examination of
the village -vrater supply and their suggestions for cleanin�-,, the water by instillation
of water softening systems in each home. No action taken on this.
Motion by Adams to approve the follo-!,ring building permit requests: Charles Christianson
to build a 16 X 24 foot garage on lots 6 & 7 block 10. Douglas Pitt to build a 50 x
26 foot house with attached single garage on the north 70 feet of lots 4 & 5 block 41.
Jerome 11itbhell to build a 22 X 22 foot garage on lot 2 block 7 of loirer 1xionticello.
Dick Bondhus to build' 'a 70 X 26 foot house on lots 9 & 10 block 22.And Thomas Euwing
to build a 40X 26 foot tri -level house on lots 4 8z 5block 1 of, lower 11onticello.
Seconded by Kasper and carried.
A request was presented by Earl Lindenfelser for permission to start a used car lot
on lots 9, 10, 11, & 12 of Block 1 lower Monticello. Adams moved to table this for
further investigation. Seconded by Baker and carried.
Norman Krueger presented the engineers estimato of cost on building a sider-,-a"k
from the dorm town area to the highschool. By 13 his lowest estimate the co-st would
be approximately 06, 600.00. 1,11otion by Adams to meet with the superintendent of
schools conserning t1his and the -previous request by Dick 11olker concerning the -
building of a traitor court. Seconded by Baker and carried.
Motion by Kasper the the following be selected as judges for the general and village
election to be held Nov. 6th. Wm. Schneider, Lida Thompson., Jake Burkholder,, and
Reta Soltau., with Wm. Jongewaard as an alternate in case of ablence of one of the
others. Seconded by Swanson and carried.
Motion by Kasper to taise R. Ilenzels pay from 025,00 per month to $350.00 per month
effective October 1, 1962. Seconded by Baker and carried.
Motion by Swanson to institute an ordinance forbiding any burning in the village
limitsuntil 12:00 noon each day., and requiring that Any burning be done in an incin.
