August 2, 1965
Regular meeting oft he village council held this date in the village hall.

Members present- Bergstrom, Kasper., Madsen, Sandberg abd Swanson, Abseht- none.
Minutes of the meeting of July 6th were approved as read.
Mr, Carter Schuyler representing Sinclair refining Co. cane before the council
to request that the water be turned on at the Sinclair station. The village had
previoully turned this water off because of over $100.00 in unpaid water and
sewer bills from past operators.Mr. Schuyler agreed to try to get a commitment
from the home office to pay or be responsable for collecting these past bills,
Wm. Allen requested a raise in pay to V.TX= $1.75 per hour.. Motion by Madsen
to raise the play of Wm. Allen to $1.65 per hour. Seconded by Swanson and carried.
Mr. Edwards of Edwards Street Cleaning Service offered his street cleaning service -s
to the village for $14-50 per hour.The council decided to first have the maint-
ainence department scoop up the large deposits of sand and to contact Mr. Edwards
when his services were desired.
Motion by Kasper to approve the following building permits: Bill Fyle to move a
44 ft. X 24 ft. home with attached garage onto 1he south 70, feet of lots 4 & 5
block D and to construct a' -walkout basement on these lots facing south. Linn
Smith to construct a basement on lot 6 block 10 Lower Monticello 30 ft. X 31 ft.
and to move his house on'to this basement* Motion seconded by Swanson and carried.
Madsen and Sandberg were appointed to deck on the sewer rates for hospitals in
other areas before setting a rate for the new hospital.
Motion by Madsen that the sewer rate for the clinic be set at $72.00 per year,
Seconded by Sandberg and carried.
Motion by Kasper that we request the school board to meet with us at a special
meeting August 23, at 8:00 P.M. to discuss the water rate and past water 'hills
due for the elementry school. Seconded by Sandberg and carried.
Motion by Kasper that the water lines be steralized again in Suptember in an
attempt to further improve the water supply. Seconded by Sandberg and carried.
Motion by Sandberg that we advertize for a part time woman watress for the
municipal liquor store. Seconded by Kasper and carried.
Motion by Kasper that we purchase twenty stools for the municipal liquor store.
Seconded by Sandberg and carried.
The clerk reported that another $500.00 was donated by the volinteer fire dept.
tword the -purchase of the new fire truck, bringing their donations tc a total of
$2,500.00 to date.
There was discussion on the dump. It was reported that Jerry's auto parts was
undivided as to weather or not to start a dump and that D. Scherbing would start
a pay dump if he could get approval 'of land and if the village w6uld give him a
contract for hailing jarbage ixxJdmx from the village.
Motion by Swanson to pay the bills as read. Seconded by Sandberg and carried.
