Motion 'Gy Counail man Kasper to authorize the hiring of Mrs. Mary Arnold and Yrs Alta Farrick as clerks in the Off Sale Store of the imontice_ilo Liquor- Store, and further that the above named clerks will be paid $1.75 per hour. Motion seconded by Councilman Topel and carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper and Topel. Voting No: Councilmen Schaffer and Swanberg. Mr. Doug Pitt representing the Chamber of Commerce spoke to the Council about the work the Chamber is doing to beautify West Riverside Park and the cost involved in that undertaking. He,further stated that they would need additional assistance from the Village in this project. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to authorize the spending of $500.00 for improvement of the above park in conjunction with the above organization's improvement program„ Motion seconded by Councilman Kasper and carried., Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper, Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting No: None. Mr. Art McIntire, Chief of Police of Poliee, requested that the Village purchase four (4) helmets and. two (2) cans of MACE for riot control. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to authorize the purchase of the above riot control items for the police department. Motion seconded by Councilman Kasper and carried. Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper, Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting no: None. Mr George Yonak spoke to the.,VillageCouncil about the cost involved in operating the dump at his place for the Village. He stated that the $50.00 per month he received from the Village was insufficient to cover the cost. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to increase the payment to Mr. George Yonak to $75.00 per month for operating and maintaining the above dui6p fortheVillage for one year. This increase in payment will be effective commencing May 1,„1968. Motion seconded Councilman Kasper and carried. Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper, Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting no. None. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to authorize the purchase of a Eureka Automatic Upright 238D vacuum cleaner for $49.95 for the Municipal Liquor Store. Motion seconded by Councilman Topel and carried. Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Gouncilmen Kasper, Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting no. None. Motion;by Councilman Schaffer to raise the pay of the Liquor Store Manager, Mr. L. Hawkins to $600.00 per month. Further that the full time bartender, Mr. Claude Johnston,'be changed from a monthly salary basis to an hourly rate of pay of $2.50 per hour, and that the hourly rate for part-time bartenders who have worked over 90 days be increased to $2.50 per hour. The pay for those bartenders who have worked less than 90 days will be increased to $2.25 per hour. The above increase will be effective commending May 1, 1968. Hawkins, the Liquor Store Manager, to $550.00 per month and to change the full time bartender Mr. Claude Johnston, from a monthly salary basis to an hourly rat„of $2.40 per hour. Also, to increase the part-time bartenders hourly rate of pay to $2.40 per hour providing they have worked more than 90 days. Further, for those pprt- time bartenders who have worked less than 90 days the hourly pay will remain at $'.15 per hour. Upon completion of the 90 day trial_ period, their hourly► rate will be increased to $2.40 per hour providing the Liquor Store Manager and Council approves of it. Mr. Dick Holker and Mr. Jim Maus spoke to Council about establishing a two (2) hour parking limit on a portion of Cedar Street from the corner of East Broadway to the alley way between the Red Owl Store parkin; lot and Milo Ploon's Motor Sales. Motion by Councilman Kasper to have two y(2) hour parking signs installed at the above stated portion of Cedar Street. Motion seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried. Members absent: None. r Motion by Councilman Schaffer to amend motion dated March 12, 1968, to adopt resolution adopting assessment for sanitary sewer extension along West River Street from the corner of Chestnut Avenue to the -westerly village limits. The amendment to be added to this motion dated March 12; 1968, is that the annual assessment payments for those property owners who will be benefitted from this improvement will be spread over a 22 year period of time and the rate of interest to be charged will be 6 percent per annum.
