SPECIAL MEETING MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL
Monday, May 9, 2022 — 5 p.m.
Academy Room, Monticello Community Center
Present: Jim Davidson, Bill Fair, Charlotte Gabler, Lloyd Hilgart, Sam Murdoff
Absent: None
Staff: Rachel Leonard, Angela Schumann, Matt Leonard, Sarah Rathlisberger, and
Jennifer Schreiber
1. Call to Order
Mayor Lloyd Hilgart called the special meeting to order at 5 p.m.
2. CMRP Update
Rachel Leonard, City Administrator, introduced the item and noted recent CMRP
discussions about the priorities and future direction of the group. Ms. Leonard
requested input from the City Council on what the City of Monticello deems a priority
and where efforts by staff should be directed.
CMRP, previously known as the Highway 25 Coalition, was created when the area
government entities were looking at another bridge crossing. It has since transitioned to
include a greater emphasis on economic growth and development. The organization is
seeking to address regional issues, including but not limited to a bridge crossing.
The Council discussed membership in the CMRP. It was apparent that the regional
planning group component is important to the Council, but the bridge crossing should
be the focus now. The Council also discussed the bridge location and where Monticello
would prefer it located. Council's primary goal with the location selection is to reduce
truck traffic through the Trunk Highway 25 corridor.
3. Adjournment
By consensus, the meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
