RESOLUTION NO. 2023-09
ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT, CONTINGENT ON MNDOT APPROVAL, FOR THE
SCHOOL BOULEVARD SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the project, the following
improvements for the School Boulevard Safe Routes to School Project:
• New pedestrian crossing at Meadow Oak and Fenning Avenue
• Extension of the sidewalk in front of Eastview Education Center connecting south to
School Boulevard
• Enhanced pedestrian crossing with center refuge island on School Boulevard at Pelican
Lane
• Removal of pedestrian crossing on School Boulevard at Eider Lane
• Enhanced pedestrian crossing with center refuge island on School Boulevard between
Eider Lane and Fallon Avenue
• Improvements to the School Boulevard High School entrance to include right -turn
channelization for vehicles exiting the parking lot and a refuge island for pedestrians
• Install radar feedback speed signs on School Boulevard
• Extend trail on the south side of School Boulevard between Cardinal Hills Park and
Fenning Avenue
• Pathway lighting along School Boulevard
• WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and tabulated, and the following nine bids were
found to comply with the advertisement for bids:

WHEREAS, the bid from New Look Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $873,960.75 for the total
bid for the construction of said improvements for School Boulevard Safe Routes to School
Improvement Project, in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and
advertisement for bids, is the lowest responsible bidder and shall be and hereby is accepted.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MONTICELLO:
1. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a
contract, contingent on MnDOT approval, with said bidder for the construction of said
improvements for and on behalf of the City of Monticello.
2. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all
bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful
bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
