EDAM 3rd Thursday
"Breakfast"
MEETING NOTICE
October 15th
Announcing the new 1998-1999 EDAM monthly Breakfasts! The EDAM Board of
Directors and Education Committee have been working hard to make the monthly meetings
both educational and affordable. To achieve this goal, we will be holding a morning
breakfast meeting on the third Thursday of each month at the Mendakota County Club
(same location as 1997 and 1996).. And, to make this more affordable for our tight
budgets, we have reduced the price to $14.00! We'll see you on October 15th!

"Hiawatha LRT and Northstar Rail Corridor"
Everyone will agree that transit improvements for the Twin Cities metropolitan area are
needed. But which will be the most efficient and economical? Tim Yantos, Anoka County
Deputy Administrator, will present an overview of why transit improvements are needed
with an emphasis on and analysis of the Northstar Commuter Rail Corridor. This
innovative approach to mass transit will begin in Minneapolis, pass through Anoka County
and extend as far north as St. Cloud.
•
Gary Erickson, Director of Transit and Community Works for Hennepin County will
continue the presentation with how the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit Comdor helps fulfill
the regional transit needs. Gary will provide an overview of what Light Rail Transit (LRT)
is and how it will fit into the community. He will also present the current status of design,
the environmental process and funding of projects.
