IDC Minutes 04-16-1998Minutes from 04/16/98 • Monticello Industrial Development Committee Members Present: Dick Van Allen, Tom Lindquist, Tom Ollig, Don Smith, Ken Maus, Bill Tapper. Others Present: Mayor Bill Fair, City Staff Ollie Koropchak, Rick Wolfsteller Stephen Grittman Northwest Assoc. Consultants. Members Absent: Shelly Johnson, Kevin Doty, Bob Mosford, Bob Grabinski. 1. BRE Visits by the Mayor. TDS TELECOM B&D Bus Dave Peterson's Ford Dahlheimer Distributing 2. Prospects -Ollie a. Midwest Graphics expansion with additiona130 jobs b. Diversa Foam, still talking several issues such as location, storage, financing, HRA involved c. Will visit a metal stamping company in Rogers who is currently leasing a facility and lease is up in December, looking fora 7 -10 thousand square foot building. . 3. Chamber Breakfast everyone call thier assigned people. 4. Marketing Committee Report, Don Smith Have met several times, putting draft together and moving forward on agenda for May presentation. Looking at Internet, billboards, direct mail, networking. Next meeting is May 1 S` looking at all businesses being involved in the marketing program. 5. Memo from Mayor Fair Summarized how the City is going to become "Industrially Friendly" Mayor asked the IDC to review his memo and provide comments. It was decided to invite Jeff O'Neill to the next meeting to discuss his philosophy on industrial development. 6. Land Use Ratio Information Steve Grittman of Northwest Associated Consultants was present and presented to the IDC a brief on Monticello Industrial Land Ratios. It was determined that the ratio of industrial to residential land in Monticello is consistant with other communities in the Metropolitian area however the following questions were asked with no clear cut answer. • a. Where do we go from here? b. How do we maintain a balance between industrial and residential land. This report will be presented at the May 5" Planning Commission meeting. The IDC will recommend that a balance of industrial land vs residential be kept in mind when anexing property into the City. The IDC will also recommend that the proposed Remmele Industrial site should not be implemented until a feasibility study has been done. 7.
