5I. Consideration of appointment of election fudges for the general election on
November 4, 2008. (JO)
A. REFERENCE AND BACKGROUND:
The general election for state offices is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2008. State
election laws require the City Council appoint judges to serve at the general election.
Attached is a list of judges that we will be selecting from for the general election. Their
appointment is contingent upon completing the necessary training.
Budget Impact: The City placed extra funds in the 2008 election budget to cover training
for the election judges.
B. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS:
Appoint the individuals listed in the attached document to serve for the 2008 general
election contingent upon meeting eligibility requirements and completing training.
C. STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
The attached list is a pool of individuals that the City can draw from for the general election.
It is recommended that the Council approve the list of individuals to serve as election
judges.
