1. General Business
A. Call to OrderJune 4, 2024, meeting minutes.
B. RANDY SKARPHOL MOVED TO APPROVE THE JUNE 41P 2024, MEETING MINUTES; MOTION
SECONDED BY SARAH KORTMANSKY. MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
C. Consideration of Adding Items to the Agenda
None.
D. Manufacturer's Week Appreciation Breakfast — Friday, October 11, 2024
Jim Thares gave a status of the Manufacturers Appreciation Breakfast planning.
2. Regular Agenda
A. Table Topic — Business Retention Discussion; New Business Activity -Attraction Update
Jim Thares, Economic Development Manager, presented Business retention and new
business activity activities. He reviewed a report done by the University of Minnesota on
Business Retention and Expansion.
An upcoming BRE will be at Bondus. Sarah Kortmansky and Luke Dahlheimer will attend
representing the IEDC.
Mr. Thares presented a list of new businesses which recently opened or are planning to
establish locations in Monticello. This list represents an estimated 10+ employees per
business.
3. Liaison Updates
A. Wright County Economic Development Partnership (WCEDP)
Missy Meidinger introduced herself and shared upcoming events and actions include a
Golf event on 9/10, CEO class start next month, 2024 funding from County — discussing
2025 funding request, 2025 PEL employment approved, BRE visit and a Daycare funding
request
B. Chamber of Commerce
Deb Meyer, Chamber of Commerce Director introduced herself as the new Monticello
Chamber of Commerce Director. She thanked all those involved with the success of the
2024 Riverfest, Puzzlepalooza in October, Downtown Trick or Treat is due back this fall,
the next Chamber meeting will be at Nordic Brewing, and the Annual Banquet will be on
December 16, 2024.
C. Economic Development
Jim Thares, Economic Development Manager provided an update.

D. City Council Update
Rachel Leonard, City Administrator, presented current projects and actions of the City
Council including discussion on agreement with Monticello Orderly Annexation Area,
joint City Council/Planning Commission/EDA Housing workshop, preparing Local Option
Sales Tax informational for residents, preliminary budget, grant for tier one of CET
project, open seats on Council and notice of Primary Election.
4. Next Meeting Reminder— Date: Tuesday, September 3, 2024- as per new meeting schedule
