Old Business a) Cabinets in meeting room - Sarah sent photos of the room to the city to get the process started; hasn't heard back from them yet. • The library and board can start looking at what types of cabinets we want in there. • Bill Tapper from Generex Westlund, who also sits on Monticello's EDA could be a possible builder of the cabinets. b) Meeting rooms policy - Sarah presented the board with a draft of the policy. • Though the City more than likely wants to continue to charge for the meeting rooms, the library is advocating for all spaces to be free of charge. Sarah conducted a survey of surrounding libraries and found none of them charge for meeting room space. • Janet made a motion to approve the policy as written. Julie seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. Next step: Get the policy on the city council agenda for a vote. V. Library Report - Sarah Seeley a) Monticello circulation as of September 1 was at 128,211; up 0.5% over the same 8-month period in 2017. Summer borrower numbers were up 6.7% over the last year. Total borrower numbers are almost the same as last year - 6,528. b) To date in 2018, Monticello presented 208 programs attended by 2.536 individuals. Made four presentations at local schools to 515 students and teachers, total. The library conducted six outreach events over the summer along with proctored exams and class visits. c) Monticello's Summer Reading Program was the biggest ever. There was a lot more buzz about both the kids and teen programs and nicer prizes were offered than in the past. Total hours read for both programs was 10,540. Several local businesses contributed funds and prizes toward the program including Hybrid Martial Arts, Fitness Evolution, Monticello Community Center, Holiday Station, State Farm, Perkins and Ausco. d) The concert on the lawn series went reasonably well with approximately 30 people attending each concert. There are plans to offer concerts next year using Legacy funding. e) Monticello's Creative City Celebration was held on the library lawn on the last Saturday in August, highlighting creative endeavors around the area. The creative council's mission meshes with the library's, Sarah said, as both encourage lifelong learning. Approximately 180 people attended the event. f) Concerts will be staged at the library during the summer funded by Legacy money. The community is welcome to bring chairs and snacks and listen. VI. Patron Services Supervisor Report - Brandi Canter (as given by Sarah Seeley) a) GRRL approved the library's amnesty week for materials returned that were checked out 2011 and prior. VII. New Business a) None. VIII. Adjournment Shea adjourned the meeting at 6:04 p.m. Charlotte seconded. All approved. Motion carried. Next meeting: December 11, 2018, 5:30 p.m.
