Quarter: January -March
Year: 2022
Statistics
As of Jan. 31, 2022, the Monticello Public Library circulation was at 11,054. February
statistics were not available at the time of this report. 2021's circulation numbers
totaled a promising 112,334; up over 27.5% over the same period in 2020.
Programs
We had our Winter Reading Program from January through the end of February. We
offered the mugs and hats again as registration incentives. Our numbers were down
this year, but we still had our faithful followers turning in slips. In February, we offered
an Escape Room for teens, but it was attended by a couple adults too. It was well -
received, but only 6 attended. We'll probably do it again this summer. Craft programs
remain very popular and we'll be offering more Legacy programs as we move into the
spring months including a visit from author Lorna Landvik, and a History of Hip Hop
class for teens.
Building/Maintenance Issues
We are still waiting to hear from Xcel Energy to see if we can paint the remaining
green doors located just to the left of our front entrance. Obviously, we are past
painting season, but hopefully someone will be able to finish the burgundy paint job in
the spring.
Carpets were cleaned in the programming room due to an accident with our Therapy
Horse, Stanley. However, there remains a bit of a stain. We will not be able to have
Stanley remain as a reading horse inside the library anymore due to this. We will
resume visits with Stanley in May, outdoors.
Staffing Update
We have hired a new Library Assistant to replace Jenny Cleveland, who left to take a
full time position. Our new assistant is Becky Aanerud, who started on 2/24/22. She
brings with her 25+ years of experience at the Wright County DMV in Buffalo. We
may be on the lookout for another Library Assistant, as Cheryl Johnson will be
moving to Becker solely, as she is currently shared by both branches. We will not
make the move effective until her hours are filled here first.
