Next Library Board Meeting — March 10, 2020 @ 5:30 p.m. 2020 Meetings Tuesdays at 5:30 pm March 10 June 9 September 8 December 8 Quarter: October -December Year: 2019 Statistics As of December 1, the Monticello Public Library circulation is at 171,469 - down 6.2% over the same 11-month period in 2018. Check-out sessions totaled 2147 for September; 2347 for October; and 1997 for the month of November. We also continue to have great support from the City of Monticello and the Friends of the Library, who help us with additional prizes, music programs and supplies for the various programs we have. To date the Monticello Public Library has presented 248 programs for children, teens, and adults with a total attendance of 4008. Programs We were saddened to learn that our dear R.E.A.D. dog, Maue rwas diagnosed with a type of leukemia this summer and passed away in October. A wonderful crew from WCCO came out to do a story about him and his volunteering duties here and at the CentraCare Cancer Center. We had a get well card made and a photo and coloring page tribute to him on our wall for most of November. We'll see if we can get another READ dog for this wonderful program. Our regular programs like storytime, book club for adults, LEGO Club, and continue to draw patrons in. We had a few Legacy programs in November and will have another one in December to round out the year. November and December seem to be heavy on the crafting programs, but that's what people love. We made honey almond soap, holiday wreaths, shadow box tree ornaments, ugly sweaters and will be making more ornaments and teen gifts these next few weeks. The city of Monticello sponsored our Saturday with Santa event. It was well attended, but not as much as last year. The Friends' Cozy Winter Evening event is coming up in 10 days. It will be a fun night with Legacy musicians from the Skally Line Trio performing. I visited Eastview Education Center's preschool classes in November to promote "Step Out with STEM," a new initiative from GRRL that takes the place of the Fall Fairy Tales program that we did for the previous 2 years. Building/Maintenance Issues The back room tile was polished over the weekend, and it looks very nice. The in -the -wall heaters, which were installed this summer, are working well! They are used just about every day. We would like to address the need for additional lighting in the center of the library. On cloudy days or in the evenings, the center part of the library is quite dim, which makes it hard to read the shelves. We'd also like to see the programming room get a fresh coat of paint and get rid of the dated painted circles on the wall. Also, we'd like to look into seeing what it would take to get new carpeting in the next couple years. I • , the ove,r1 M that &RARY RIVER REGIONAL ".,
