The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct. Approval is contingent upon requirements included in this report. A copy of the approved plans, specifications, and this Report on Plans must be retained at the project location for future reference. INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. No plumbing work may be covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. The contractor/installer must obtain an inspection permit from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry when an installation is for a state owned facility, Minnesota Department of Health licensed healthcare facility, or a project in an area where there is no local administrative authority. To schedule inspections, contact the state plumbing standards representative for your region. For your regional inspector's contact information, visit our website at http://www.dli.mn.gov/CCLD/CCLDContactus.asp REQUIREMENT(S): 1. Verify that the existing water supply and waste systems are sized to accommodate the added fixtures (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.3800 and part 4715.2310). 2. A water closet is shown without a vent connection on the drain waste and vent riser diagram. All fixture traps shall be protected against siphonage and back pressure by means of a properly installed vent pipe (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0920). 3. A 3-inch minimum vent stack, continuous in size from base to terminal, must be provided for every sanitary building sewer (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2520, subpart 1). This stack should be the most remote from the location where the building drain leaves the building. Verify that this required vent stack exists in the building. 4. Equipment used for heating water or storing hot water shall be protected by approved safety devices in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2210 and part 4715.2230. Water heaters, including their controls and valves, must be installed so that they are capable of being reached safely and quickly for inspection, repair, or replacement without requiring the use of tools or the removal of obstacles, panels, or similar obstructions (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2240). This information can be provided to you in alternative formats (Braille, large print or audio). An Equal Opportunity Employer Tenant Restrooms Plumbing Plan No. PLB 1407-00118 Page 2 July 21, 2014 6. Valves shall be installed permitting the water supply to each room or individual fixture to be shut off without disrupting any other portion of the building (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1800, subpart 6). 7. It is recommended that a cleanout be provided where new waste and vent piping connects with existing plumbing to facilitate required testing of the new installation. The copper water distribution piping must meet ASTM Standard B88 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520). 9. Cross-link polyethylene (PEX) tubing must meet Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520: a. The tubing system must comply with ASTM F877 and F876. b. When installed as a system in accordance with ASTM F877, the system tubing and fittings must be of the same manufacturer and be marked as required. c. When not installed as a system, the fittings must be marked with ASTM F1807, F1960, F2080, F2098-01, or F2159. The tubing must list the fitting and tubing standard. d. Installers must be factory trained and possess a card documenting completion of training. 10. CPVC water distribution systems must meet Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0520: a. Pipes less than 2'/2-inch in size must comply with ASTM D2846. b. Pipes 2/2-inch to 6-inch in size must be schedule 80 and comply with ASTM F441. c. The installation must comply with IAPMO Installation Standard 20-98; including provisions for expansion and contraction. d. Solvent weld joints must include a primer of contrasting color to the pipe and cement or a one-step solvent cement complying with ASTM F493 and ASTM D2846. 11. PVC plastic pipe used for the drain, waste, and vent system shall comply with ASTM Standard D2665, D2949 or F891 (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0570 through part 4715.0600). 12. Cast iron drain, waste, and vent pipe must comply with ASTM A74, CISPI 301-05, or ASTM A888-07a (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0550 through part 4715.0600). NOTE(S): The scope of this project consists of remodeling an existing building. The plumbing installation includes a water heater, two lavatories and two tank type water closets. 2. The building is served by existing municipal sewer and water services. The plans and specifications were prepared by a licensed plumber. Only the plumber who has prepared the plans may use the plans for construction. If another plumber is contracted to install the plumbing, they must submit their own plans and specifications for the project. Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if the plumbing installation is not undertaken within a period of two years. Plan approval does not necessarily mean that recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at some later time when changed conditions, additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary.
