Planning Commission Resolution PC-2026-27 (Land Acquisition_Water Treatment site)CITY OF MONTICELLO WRIGHT COUNTY, MINNESOTA PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION PC-2026-27 RESOLUTION FINDING THAT THE PROPOSED ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN LAND FOR WATER TREATMENT FACILITY PURPOSES BY THE CITY OF MONTICELLO IS CONSISTENT WITH THE CITY OF MONTICELLO'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN — MONTICELLO 2040 VISION + PLAN WHEREAS, the City of Monticello (the "City") proposes to purchase an approximately 4.7 acre property (the "Property") located in the City of Monticello, Minnesota (the "City"), and legally described in Exhibit A (PID 155038001110) attached hereto, for the purposes of development of a municipal water treatment facility and accompanying infrastructure; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 462.356, subd. 2, requires the City Planning Commission (the "Planning Commission") to review the proposed acquisition or disposal of publicly owned real property within the City prior to its acquisition or disposal, to determine whether in the opinion of the Planning Commission, such acquisition or disposal is consistent with the City's Monticello 2040 Vision + Plan (the "Comprehensive Plan"); and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has reviewed the proposed acquisition of the Property and has determined that the Property is designated as "Light Industrial Park" within the City's Comprehensive Plan, and; WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Plan allows for the development of public and institutional facilities within various land use designations and zoning districts to accomplish its goal of providing well -maintained City facilities and services distributed equitably to all residents of Monticello; and WHEREAS, the Property and the adjacent City -owned parcel proposed for the construction of the water treatment facility are zoned 1-1, Light Industrial, which permits Public Buildings and Use as permitted uses within the district, and WHEREAS, the City's purpose is to develop the Property as a water treatment facility and accompanying infrastructure is consistent with these goals and those for community facilities, and the proposed acquisition is therefore consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Planning Commission of the City of Monticello, that the acquisition of the Property and improvement of the site for the water treatment facility by the City is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan and will promote the efficient community facilities and services of the City.
