A brief tour of the new library building was conducted with Ron
SChltff available to answer any questions the board might have
concerning the building.
2.
The wallpaper selected for the activity room, bathrooms, and
children's area will cost approximately $1800 over the bid price.
The board agreed to try to stay within the alloted budget. It was
suggested that a breakdown of cost for each wall be obtained and
then ask that this be deducted from the original bid, hiring some-
one else to hang the paper in these areas, if necessary. Another
option would be to follow through with the main paper throughout
the entire library, removing the paper on the areas questioned
and later replacing it with the desired wall coverings under a
separate contract.
Merrill Birch has suggested that we can save approximately $800
by changing the ceiling to another type similar in appearance to
the cloth covered, which was originally planned. This savings
could be applied in other areas where costs exceeded estimates,
such as for wall coverings, additional outlets, etc.
3.
There was some discussion as to how the listing for the new
library would appear in the Monticello telephone book. At pre-
sent there are two listings: Monticello Public Library and Great
River Regional Library. This would remain the same. It would
also be listed in the yellow pages under "Libraries" for a fee of
$9.00. Also discussed briefly was a sign for the building with
no action taken.
4.
The next meeting will be a dinner meeting November 9, 1981 at
6:00 P.M. at the River Inn. The Council will be meeting the same
evening and the library board will be attending that meeting to
discuss budget over-runs with the Council.
