ORDINANCE NO. 460
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF CHAPTER 3 RELATING TO YARD
REQUIREMENTS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. Section 3-3 [F] relating to front yard setbacks as follows is hereby deleted:

SECTION 2. Section 3-3 [C] 1 relating to yard requirements is hereby amended to read as
follows:
[C]. In R-1, R-2, B-1, and B-2 districts where adjacent structures, excluding
accessory buildings within same block, have front yard setbacks different from
those required, the front yard minimum setback shall be the average of the
adjacent structures. If there is only one (1) adjacent structure, the front yard
minimum setback shall be the average of the required setback as established
within the underlying residential district and the setback of the adjacent structure.
SECTION 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon
its passage and publication according to law.
Adopted by the City Council of Monticello, Minnesota on the 23~ day of April,

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF CHAPTER 2 AND SECTION 9
OF CHAPTER 3 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
RELATING TO PUBLIC SIGNS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA HEREBY ORDAINS
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: Section 2-2[PJ] relating to the definition of public signs is hereby amended to read as
follows:
[PJ] PUBLIC SIGN: Signs of a public, non-commercial nature, to include safety
signs, danger signs, trespassing signs, traffic signs, signs indicating scenic or
historical points of interest, memorial plaques, and the like, and signs for civic
interest groups within the City of Monticello when signs are erected by or on order
of a public officer employee in the performance of official duty.
Section 2: Section 2-2 is hereby amended to add the following:
[CE.1] CHIC INTEREST GROUP: A civic interest group is anon-governmental
organization which has a public or quasi-public service purpose as its central
function, but may include additional uses and activities related to its public function
or provided to its membership. A civic interest group may or may not have a
specific site location or building which it occupies whether owned or leased.
Examples of such groups may include religious institutions, local or national service
clubs and organization, private museums, historical facilities or similar entities.
Section 3: Section 3-9 [E]1(b) relating to the permitted signs is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Public Signs (as defined in Section 2-2[PJ]. Such signs shall be subject to the
following requirements:
1. Any public sign for civic interest groups within the City of Monticello shall have
a face area no larger than 18" x 24".
2. Civic interest groups within the City of Monticello may, at the discretion of the
Council, have up to three off-site directional signs.
3. Any public sign for a civic interest groups within the City of Monticello shall be
green in color with white lettering only.
Section 4: This ordinance shall become effective and in full force upon its publication.
