RESOLUTION REGARDING ANALYSIS OF
SECOND ACCESSORY BUILDINGS
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello has received inquiries and applications for
accessory buildings to be constructed in various residential zoning districts; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that the ordinance regulating such accessory
buildings and garages may be interpreted in conflicting ways; and
WHEREAS, such conflicting interpretations have led to difficulty in giving
consistent and accurate direction to property owners; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary to study the issue of accessory buildings and
garages in a comprehensive manner to determine the most appropriate method of
regulation and extent of official controls; and
WHEREAS, new accessory building requests cannot be addressed with the required
consistency until such regulations and official controls are adopted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Monticello City Council that City staff and
the Planning Commission are directed to undertake an analysis of the issue of second
accessory buildings and/or garages in contemplation of the preparation of revisions to the
City's official controls governing such structures.
