RESOLUTION REQUESTING CONVEYANCE OF
TAX FORFEITED PARCELS AND
AUTHORIZING SALE OF TAX FORFEITED LANDS
WHEREAS, the following parcels of land in the city of Monticello have been
forfeited to the State of Minnesota for nonpayment of property taxes and special
assessments, and these lots and parcels are being prepared for public sale under
tax forfeited land sale procedures of Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 282:
Lot 1, Block 1
Lots 3 and 4, Block 2
Lots 1, 2, 32 4, and 6, Block 3
Lots 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, Block 4
Parcel #155-500-142300, partially described as a tract of land in the south 1/2
of the NW Quarter of Section 14.
Parcel #155-500-142303, partially described as the south 550 ft of that part of
the south 1/2 of the NW Quarter of Section 14.
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello has interest in acquiring the parcels for various
public purposes including right-of-way extensions, storm water drainage pond
enlargements, and other economic and development purposes allowed under
authority of Minnesota State Statutes, Chapter 469.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the delinquent special assessment debt
against each tax forfeited parcel exceeds the appraisal value of each parcel as
established by the Wright County Board, and
WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statutes require that any sale proceeds from tax
forfeited parcels be first remitted to the city to cover special assessment debt before
allocation of any proceeds to other jurisdictions for real estate taxes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Monticello hereby requests that the tax forfeited parcels noted
below be conveyed to the city for public purposes under statutes allowing for
city acquisition on PT Form 80, with a request for Minnesota Department of
Revenue deeds on a Form 968 format.

Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, Block 3
Lots 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, Block 4
Parcel #155-500-142300, partially described as a tract of land in the south 1/2
of the NW Quarter of Section 14.
Parcel #155-500-142303, partially described as the south 550 ft of that part of
the south 1/2 of the NW Quarter of Section 14.
2. The City requests that the acquisition price for the parcels be established by
the County Board, not to exceed the administrative costs of the county in
completing the transfer and tax forfeiture process.
3. The City agrees to accept these parcels in lieu of any outstanding special
assessment debt owing against each parcel.
