MINUTES
MONTICELLO LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
Monday, Septelnber 11, 1989
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by President Ed Solberg.
Mffinbers Present: Ed Solberg, Mary Jane Puncochar, Pat Schwarz, and
Librarian Marge Bauer
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the last meeting by Mary Jane
Puncochar and seconded by Ed Solberg. Motion carried.
Old Business
1. The rubber floor l~tS and the t.v. stand were ordered and are now here.
The book cart has been ordered and is being built by Jiln Ennis.
2. The freestanding lnetal sign for the entry way has not been ordered yet.
3. The large outdoor library sign is being built by Dave Kern.
New Business
1.
The Board discussed lighting the new library sign. A bid was received
from Olson Electric in the amount of $500 for two ground lights, one on
each side of the sign. These lights will shine up and light the sign
from below. They will be connected to the timer which activates the
exterior building lights and the parking lot lights.
A motion was l~de by Pat Schwarz and seconded by Mary Jane puncochar to
accept the Olson Electric bid. Motion carried.
2. The Board discussed the need for a new security system. Marge Bauer felt
that we needed a new one where the keys cannot be duplicated except by
the lock company. Keys to the public conference are lent to groups who
use the room, as their meetings do not always coincide with library open
hours.
A motion was made by Mary Jane Puncochar and seconded by Ed Solberg to
accept a bid by Security Locksmiths to install a new security system in
the library at a cost of approxil~tely $540. This will include eight
cylinder locks and ten keys at $45.00 Per cylinder, $3.00 per key, and
$150.00 for the installation. Marge Bauer is to check on library slooke
alarms. Motion carried.
3.
A lnotion was I~de by Ed Solberg, seconded by Mary Jane Puncochar, to have
Marge Bauer put an ad in the Monticello Tilnes and the Advertiser for two
consecutive weeks for people interested in serving on the Monticello
Library Board. A vacancy exists since the resignation of Marguerite
pringle. Motion carried.

4. The 1990 budget was discussed and the requested alROunt was set at $33,425
up froln $25,425 for 1989.
Motion was IMde by Mary Jane Puncochar and seconded by Ed Solberg.
Motion carried.
5. The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
