City Council Resolution 1983-69RESOLUTION 1983 #69
WHEREAS, the rivers of the State of Minnesota have a vital role
as a source of water supply, recreation, navigation, aesthetic
views and habitats for plant and animal life;
WHEREAS, the Monticello City Council is concerned that the siting
of waste disposal facilities near areas designated as Critical
River Corridors or Wild and Scenic River areas could impair or
eliminate existing and potential riverfront uses; and
WHEREAS, areas designated as Critical River Corridors or Wild
and Scenic areas have natural, historic, and cultural features
which should be protected;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Monticello hereby
resolves as follows:
1. That the City of Monticello supports the, passage of
H.F. 200 by the Minnesota Legislature, whereby sec-
tions 115A.09, 115A.20, 115A.46 and 116.081 of
Minnesota Statutes would be amended to prohibit
siting of waste facilities within 200 yards or the
line of sight of a critical or wild and scenic area.
2. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to send a copy
of this Resolution to the State Representative and
Senator for this legislative district.
