City Council Resolution 1979-16RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Education, on behalf of the Independent School
District #882, has offered to the City of Monticello Block 32 in its
entirety for $100,000, including the City assuming all responsibility for
providing a public library; and
WHEREAS, the sale of property and transfer of the Public Library
obligation must comply with the Attorney General's opinion regarding
transfer of the Public Library from the School District to the City;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Monticello,
as follows:
Motion was made by Phil White, seconded by Fran Fair to
accept the School Board's offer and purchase Block 32
in its entirety for $100,000, provided that the School
District also conveys a portion of Block 17 to the City,
without additional monetary consideration, that would be
suitable size on which to build a new library.
The above resolution is also contingent upon complying with all
legally accepted practices regarding sale of property and is in compliance
with the Attorney General's opinion regarding transfer of the library
from the School to the City.
VOTING IN FAVOR: Dan Blonigen, Phil White, Arve Grimsmo,
Fran Fair, Ken Maus.
