A. Review of concept plan for the Chamber Gardens (Merchants/Master Gardeners)
The Master Gardeners have met with Kitty Baltos/Chamber Director, and Michele
Hertwig/President of Monticello Merchants. The Gardeners are in the process of
completing a design for the corner of Broadway and Hwy. 25. Kitty and Michele
do have concerns that the concept design might be more elaborate than the funds
will allow and they did want the Park's Commission to know they are willing to
work with whatever funds can be allocated for this project. The Master
Gardener's wanted to do a complete design for the area and if the costs are too
high it could be phased over the next couple of years.
B. Review of concept plan for Ellison Park (Girl Scouts/Master Gardcncrs)
Kim Blonigen, Community Coordinator for the Girl Scouts, and three Master
Gardencrs are working on a design for the southwest corner of Ellison Park (by
the sign). Gregg Engles and myself met the Gardeners on the site and Gregg
indicated where the bounds of the gardens would be. They will bring to the
meeting their ideas to discuss with the Commission.

Those wishing to purchase trees will need to sign an "Adopt-a- Tre
agreement which states the purchaser agrees to plant the trees accor
to the guidelines provided at the workshop and to water and maintain the
trees for a minimum of three years. Residents must order and pre-pay for

IIW ALK AND ROLLII
4th Annual Monticello Pathway Celebration
March, 1 999
The 4th annual "Walk and Roll" is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 1999, from 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. The Monticello Community Partners promotions committee invites your organization or
business to take part in this great community event as a "pathway partner."
By registering for a site along the pathway, your organization or business will have a fabulous
opportunity to promote your group to the community. Some ideas might be to hand out a
brochure about your organization, furnish treats (food or beverage), provide a short activity or
game, or give away small promotional items such as balloons, stickers, pencils, or buttons.
There is no cost to register for a site; however, we ask that you do not charge for whatever you
promote at your site.
Pathway activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pathway partners will be located in
various spots on the pathway trom the High School to the Pinewood Elementary ballfields.
Expect to find a variety of organizations, businesses and other community representatives
greeting walkers and riders along the way.
Some of the other activities taking place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. include a bike rodeo at the
Hospital; a basketball tournament; music, events and door prize drawings in Bridge Park and
much more. The entire community will be invited to take part in "Walk and Roll" by
participating in various activities such as the bike rodeo, "walking and rolling" along the
pathway, and enjoying a picnic and entertainment by the river in Bridge Park.
Please share this information with your group and return the attached registration form by
April 30, 1999. The Monticello Community Partners promotions committee will assign the sites
according to your preference and return your location assignment and other information to you in
early May.
If you should have any questions or comments, please call Rita, MCP Director (295-0999) or
Cathy or Wanda at City Hall (295-2711).
