Parks Commission Agenda Packet 06-02-1993AGENDA MONTICELLO PARKS COMMISSION June 2, 1993 - 4 p.m Members: Dick Frie, Fran Fair, Bruce Thielen, Roger Carlson, Larry Nolan 1. Consideration of allowing advertising signs to be displayed at the NSP ball -fields with proceeds going to Monticello Baseball Association for improvements (electronic scoreboard) to the facility. PROPOSAL MBA organizes advertising and collects advertising revenue to pay for scoreboards on three of the fields. Each scoreboard costs $1,000. It is estimated that two advertisers will be needed per scoreboard. UAPLICATIONSIQUESTIONS Perhaps we should establish a general policy governing use of advertising signs at city parks. Is it right to allow the MBA to decide where advertising revenue is spent? f Should this be a City decision? The fields need a shelter and paved parking. F Who is responsible for maintaining the signs? What form is the advertising sign? Size and/or design limits? "This scorchoard donated by ...." or should the advertising be as desired by the donating business? Where will the signs be located? How long can signs bo up. 2. Review baseball/softbalVaoccer field scheduling problems and determine strategies for improving field utilization for 1994. IDEAS: (o) Centralize scheduling process. bb Add lights OR organize more daytime use of existing fields. C. Budget for park improvements to Oudot A, Meadow Oaks. 3.
