REFERENCE AND BACKGROUND: At their regular meeting on November 4, the Planning Commission interviewed the four Planning Commission candidates listed in the interview schedule below- As part of the interview, the Planning Commission asked a number of questions, which are listed on the attached sheet. After conducting the interviews, the Planning Commission members voted for their favorite candidate via secret ballot. The results are as follows: Michelle Hoefling - 3, Brian Stumpf -1, Marilyn Frie - 0, Joann Hoerchler - 0. The interview process will follow the same format used by the Planning Commission. If you desire, you can use the same interview questions that were used by the Planning Commission. You are also welcome to prepare questions of your own. See you at 5:45. Do you think the City has generally been too strict or not strict enough with city planning efforts? Cite some examples. 3. In your estimation, what have been the favorable and unfavorable ways the City has developed in the past few years? Do you see a challenge for the future? 4. Would you be able W attend special meetings from time to time? i. Scenerio - A prospective business owner would like to start a business in a commercial zone located on the edge of the downtown area and directly adjacent to a residential area. Before he can start his business, he needs to get a conditional use permit from the City. The business owner is able to meet all site plan requirements, and it appears proper, therefore, to grant the permit. However, 10 irate property owners appear at the public hearing and demand that the City deny the conditional use request because it may result in additional traffic on a nearby highway. How would you vote on this matter and why?
