Regular meeting of Village Council -- May 9, 1972.
Meeting called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Bill Sandberg, mayor.
Councilmen present: Dan Blonigen, Walter Markling, Richard Martie,
Jeff Rowan. Absent: None. Also present: Bill Elliott, Walt Mack,
Dave Kranz, Ernest Hartwig, Mr. & Mrs. Herb Nimmo, Nancy Cassano,
Beverly Heintze.
Motion by Walter Markling, second by Jeff Rowan that April 26th-
minutes
6thminutes be approved as amended. Carried -- all in favor.
Minutes for May 29 1972 approved as read.
Walter Mack reported that he had sewer renair and water service
repair lines to nut in before 3rd St. was rebuilt. Clear with
BridPewater when working so they would be aware if anv conduit
movement or damage occurs.
Nancy Cassano presented the community school concept wherein
the school becomes a community center for recreation, classes,
social functions, etc. Main adf4itional costs for this program
would cover maintenance, secretary and one half of the directors
salarv. The state nicks un one half of the directors salary.
Suggestion of community narticination on Board of Directors such
as: V.F.T^l., Chamber of Commerce, %tarv, School Board, J. C's,
Twos., etc.
Clerk to develop a resn"ution that council_ favors the nro;rram
contin7ent on establishment of board to direct. Board to be not
more than 7 members drawn from representatives from community
organizations.
Petition for annexation presented by Ernie Hartwip, and Frank Kane
for 8 acre tract adjacent to the village.
Clerk to contact Municipal Commission to determine procedure.
Motion by 'Kalter Iflarkling, seconded by Jeff Rowan to annrove building
permit for Brazil Fyle to build garage on lots 4 & 5 - Block D.
Carried.
Motion by Dan Blonigen, seconded by Richard. Martie to approve building
permit for Rose Roskowyck to add a 12x12 entry onhome on Lot 4 -
Block 0. Carried -- all in favor.
Dave Kranz spoke to council requesting consideration for approval
for a beer license for league play off on the weekend of June 10-11.
Motion by 'Walt Ma.rklinr that Jeff Rowan develop a Parking Ordinance

for business and residental areas with penalties. Rowan to work
with attorney. Seconded by Dick Martie. Carried -- all in
favor.
Set un meeting with Brid7ewater Telephone for May 10th to discuss
restoration of 3rd St. & Cedar St. Bill Elliott reported that
7700 lineal feet of street (�rd St. and Cedar St.) is estimated
at $25,800 for restoration of of streets% $40,200 for full street.
Set ino meeting with Township for May 30th to discuss fire rrotection.
Prepare request for bids to slurry coat or seal cote village park-
ing lot. Action on upgrading Liquor Store narking lot deferred.
Motion by Richard Martie, seconded by Dan Blonigen that clerk
contact County Commissioners to consider West 6th Street to be
state aid road from Hyway 25 to County Road 39 in lieu of 4th
Street and Locust St. Carried -- all in favor.
Motion by Walter Markling, seconded by Richard Martie to annrove
bills presented. Administrative: tlZ33,21; Fire: $886.21; Park: $1076.63;,
Sewer: $1716.26; Water: $ 4 66; N. Street: $1669.8 ; Service: $3384,
26;
Other: $306_, 2.24; Liquor, 2726.
Motion by Richard Martie, seconded by Jeff Rowan to; adjust council-
men's salary to $15.00 for regular meetings and $10.00 for special
meetings and to adjust the mayor's salary to $20.00 for regular
meetings and $15.00 for special meetings. Carried all in favor.
Motion to adjourn by Jeff Rowan, seconded by Richard. Mi*are. So
ordered.
