City Council Minutes 10-06-1975 SpecialSPECIAL MEETING OF MONTIC ELLO CITY COUNCIL October 6, 1975 - 7:30 P . M. Present: Denton Erickson, Con Johnson, Dick Martie, Gene Walters. Absent: Stanley Hall. 1. Discussion on Proposed Liquor Store. Phil Pesola and William Jacobson of Design/Management Construction Co. Inc., presented proposed sketch of liquor store 801 by 80 1 ( 6400 square feet) . Building without basement would run approximately $164,000 including architectural fees and cooler (20 1 x 481). Sales area would be approximately 4000 square feet. Plans and specifications could be ready for bidding within one month. Council consensus was to table decision to allow for further study of site, size, etc. 2. Approval of Historical Informational Project. J. W. Miller said he had received quotes on the various phases of construction and he recommended the City of Monticello award the construction as follows: Shrubs - Fair ts Farm Market $ 430 Flooring - Larsen Carpet & Furniture 835 Plumbing & Heating - Griefnow Sht. Metal 1302 Stucco - G. Johnson 650 Carpentry - Yeager & Schultz 4000 Painting - Ed Doran 875 Masonry & Sod - J. Miller 3300 Electrician - Stants Electric 400 $11792 J. W. Miller indicated he would do the necessary work on the fountain free of charge. Motion by Martie, seconded by Erickson and unanimously carried to have J. W. Miller proceed with project. 3. Community School and Joint Recreation Program. Duane Gates, Community School Director, requested the City of Monticello consider increasing its allocation to the Community School Program. In accordance with a joint powers agreement the City of Monticello had been contributing $1325 annually to the summer recreation portion of the Community School program. Mr. Gates Special Meeting of the Council October 6, 1975 - cont' d. stated the total budget for the community school pro- gram had increased from ,$24,000 to $47,500 in the last five years. Later, in discussing the budget, a motion was made by Erickson, seconded by Martie and unanimously carried to approve an increase in the city's share of the joint summer recreation program from $1325 to $2000 annually. 4. Review of Preliminary Budget. The preliminary budget for 1976 was reviewed on a line by line basis. Following are the changes to the preliminary budget: A. Increase of $500 for Community School Joint Recreation Program in General Fund (1975 allocation was ,$1325 preliminary budget $1500 adjusted budget $2000) . B. Deletion of snow blower of ,$9000 in the Street Fund. C. Motion by Johnson, seconded by Erickson to use previous accounting practices in the allocation of a public works director's salary and secre- tary's salary. Mayor Johnson also requested the council consider the following budget items for 1976: A. Park planning. B. Remodeling of Senior Citizen's Center. C. Remodeling and addition to City Hall.
