City Council Minutes 11-25-1975 SpecialSPECIAL MEETING OF THE MONTICELLO CITY COUNCIL
November 25, 1975 - 7:30 P.M.
Members present: Con Johnson, Denton Erickson, Dick Martie,
Stanley Hall, Gene Walters.
Purpose of meeting was to discuss status of Mississippi
Drive in Hoglund Addition with property owners.
Mayor Johnson opened meeting by explaining that, although
Mississippi Drive was a dedicated street, it never was
accepted by the Township of Monticello or the City of
Monticello after annexation. As a result, Mayor Johnson
explained the responsibility for maintenance of the road
is not the City of Monticello's.
After discussion regarding various viewpoints on the road,
council consensus was that if majority of property owners
along the road up to and including Ronald Adkins home
signed petition requesting city improve road, the road
would be maintained by the city immediately at no cost to
property owners. The improvement would be either class
five or pavement according to city standards, and specifi-
cation and costs of improvement would be borne by abutting
property owners. Actual determination of surfacing,
whether class five or bituminous, would have to be con-
sidered on basis of timing of sewer and water extensions
(if any) that would be put in the area. Mayor Johnson
explained that sewer and water would not be extended to
the area if the majority of residents did not want it.
