Dear all ie:
I am resigning as a Committe me ber of the Monticello
Industrial Development Counsel.
-
As I explained on the phone, in light of the recent
legislation passed by our state' law makers plus their
attitude towards businesses, I ave changed the direction
of FSI. In the future, we will be expanding out of
state and probably eliminate .y jobs within Minnesota.
With this, my heart is not in t e development of Industry
in Minnesota at this time.
Please accept my apologies and hank the rest of the
Committee for considering me.
Sincerely,
INC.

Dear Olive:
Thank you for your letter in
minimum wage.
Senate
State of Minnesota
pposition to raising the
.
As it was originally introduced, would have required all
businesses in Minnesota to raise he minimum wage $1 per hour
in the first year. There was a great deal of debate,
discussion and compromise during ommittee action.
The final version of the bill was
the strong lobbying done by t
industries.
consideration by
and hotel/motel
The current Minnesota minimum W ge is $ 3.35 a hour. We
established a two-tiered minimum wage. Small business in
Minnesota (those with annual sa es of less than $ 3 62,500 )
will have to pay a minimum wage f $3.50 in 1988, $3.65 in
1989, and $3.80 in 1990, for a otal increase of 45 cents.
Larger business will have to inc ease their minimum wage to
$3.55 in 1988, $3.85 in 1989, and $3.95 in 1990, for a total
increase of 60 cents.
Thank you for taking the time
concerns on this matter.
Sincerely,
