MINUTES INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMEN COMMITTEE MEETING AUGUST 18, 1. 83 The Regularly scheduled meeting of the Mont'cello Industrial Development Committe was duly held at 4: 00 PM on Thursd' y, August 18, 1983 in City Hall. Members present were Tom Eidem, John Bondhu! , Jay Morrell, Bruce Gagnelius, Con Johnson, Ron Hoglund, Dale Lungwitz, Arve Q imsmo, Bud Schrupp, Shelly. Johnson, Walt Musty, Don Smoth, and Allen pelvit. Me bers not present were; Gary Wieber. The meeting was called to order by John Bodhus. The minutes of the July 21 meeting were approved. Then you can work towards that goal, and at any point i time you will know exactly where we stand. Bondhus wanted to keep the goal simple, s Hoglund suggested setting the new number of industries to start up and the 'ndustries would dictate the new jobs. Unfortunately this would still leave some uncertainty in how many jobs would be created for each new industry. At this po"nt, Lungwitz suggested putting more emphasis on the industries we already hav to expand and create new jobs. He then discussed some ordinances that may be to stringent in Monticello and may deter future industries from either expanding or relocat1ng here. Lungwitz brought up O. D. Hendrickson's dis here. Real Estate Representa- tives. and any representatives that have be! n associated with expansion in the Monticello area during the last year. . C. Johnson and Smith wondered if the committee wine & dine our own people or if we should focus more on outside people. Should we start charging our own business people and give complimentory ticets to the special guests? It was the committees consesus to wait and discuss this again at a later meeting. pelvit gave a report on the Labor Survey U date. He said the survey was complete. the results tabulated. and the c mpilation approximately 75% complete. He also said he would indicate a y areas that were different from the 1979 survey and areas that may be of significant interest. pelvit spoke briefly about the 1984 Prelim nary Budget. It was suggested that he get a copy of it to all committee membe.s for them to look over. Anderson, Eidem. & Grimsmo sit down and discuss all angle of what O. D. endrickson wants. It was the con- sensus of the committee that we should tr . to work things out with O. D. and maybe take a look at our ordinances fr industrial uses. Because several of the industries have not completely corn lied with the ordinances, why not try to relax them so that we can work bet er with future prospects. . . . . Morrell suggested that the committee should have a list of things that must be done by a future developer and some time frame to follow. Also, we should have a mini version of the ordinances to sh w the prospects right up front. pelvit suggested that he would compile this type of information with the help of the building inspector for the purp ses indicated above.
