3. PROSPECTS: EASTEY continued. - 101 in Rogers, Minnesota.
They design and ' roduce a shrink wrap machine
which sells for $5,000-$6,000, they do rebui1ts,
and would like t expand their operation to

Owners are Jeff astey and Sally Eastey, 80%
and 20% ownershi. , respectively. The company
is currently loa ing to lease 7,200 sq ft
from Jay Morrell. The preliminary proposed
resources are SB' , GMEF, and Central Minnesota
Initiative Fund.' Koropchak asked for volunteers
to visit the cur! ent facility in Rogers at 10: 00 AM on
July 20. Shelly Johnson, Ron Hoglund, and Jeff
O'Neill agreed t, accompany Koropchak.

Telephone Compan has purchased the bank

CARGILL FEED - Lance Fentriss, District General
Manager, had sto: by Koropchak' s office on
July 3 regarding planned construction of a new
feed mill elevat! Mr. Fentriss said rail was
one of the compa y's highest priority for site
selection, howev r, Monticello has not been ruled out
because of 1-94 nd the direct route to Highway 10.

is maintained daj ly from Albertville into the metro.

the old Fire Hal which is appraised at $93,000.
The building, in1a B-4 zone, would require a
conditional use ermit. The alternative action

in the industria park. Koropchak asked for

AMERICAN WINDOW D DOOR COMPANY - Jeff O'Neill
reported that Mr Rick Leonard, President of
American Window nd Door Company, Williston,

CURBING AND HARD SURFACE ORDINANCE AMEND.
O'Neill reported the zoning ordinance in
reference to curbing and hard surface in
1-1 and 1-2 zone may now be reduced to
a suitable grade level of crushed rock
in areas where a developer can demonstrate
the minimum traffic use.

5. CONSIDERATION TO HEAR CONCEr OF SUPER SPEED RAIL SYSTEM BETWEEN
ST CLOUD AND MINNEAPOLIS.
O'Neill and Koropchak attended a meeting in St. Cloud on July 17
regarding the potential lon~ range plans for a super speed rail
system as endorsed by Trans~ ration Commissioner LaVine and
St. Cloud Mayor Winkelman. I feasibility study is currently
underway for the areas of M~ neapolis, Wisconsin, and Chicago.
Most common designs used in i apan or Europe are magnetic leverage

or steel rail, train~run fro 220 mph to 300 mph. The state is
proposing five spur rails fr m Rochester, Winona, Duluth, St. Cloud,
and Mankato to Minneapolis. A resolution was endorsed by Mayor
Winkelman for presentation ~ city council for a study to begin
for the St. Cloud/Minneapol~s areas. Potential location are
the 1-94 media or abanded r~ilroad right of way. The tracks
only require a 35 ft width. Economics will dictate the outcome
of a Monticello stop and the rate of speed. The IDC asked to
be kept informed on the prog essing of the super speed rail.
6.
CONSIDERATION TO SET IDC
.
The committee picked the fifth Monday in October as a possible
date for the banquet. Koropchak is to check out Monday,
October 29, with the Monte Club and the Vikings schedule.
A suggested speaker was Dr. eorge Karvel, Minnesota Real Estate
Chair and professor at St. Cloud State University.
7. CONSIDERATION OF FOLLOW-UP
AND EXPANSION BREAKFAST.
RETENTION
IDC members reported that cents they heard from industrial business
representatives were all positive. They enjoyed the chance to
visit and the opportunity to get acquainted with other local
business representatives. T ey were most interested in the
EAS metro stat is and city's future plans for commerical/industrial
waste. The IDC recommended to repeat the informal gathering.
8.
CONSIDERATION TO DISCUSS IDC GOAL NO.8: TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS
WITH A CONTRACTOR FOR THE CO STRUCTION OF A SPECULATIVE INDUSTRIAL
BUILDING WHICH HAS RECEIVED ROIR BUILDING PLAN APPROVAL.

Korocphak informed the IDC of a letter from Advance Resources
representing two manufacturi g companies looking to lease
facilities of 15,000 sq ft a d 50,000 sq ft, respectively.
As the community of Monticello no longer has such size of
industrial buildings available, Koropchak referred to the
IDC Goal No.8. The IDC rec mmended Koropchak talk to
Winkelman or Veit Constuctio Company about potential land
enhancements and the potenti 1 of preliminary approved building

9. OTHER BUSINESS.
The Chamber luncheon and meeting is scheduled for today, 12:00
noon, at the American Legio Club.
Mayor Maus suggested staff .alk with NAWCO and Attorney Tom
Hayes regarding NAWCO's int rest to purchase the three
subdivided city lo~abuttin. NAWCO's property. Draft a
document of first right of efusal or place a moratorium
on the interested property.
The redemption period on th Jim Boyle property has now ran
out and legally is in the h nds of Farm Credit Services.
10. ADJOURNMENT.
The IDC meeting adjourned a 8:30 AM.
