Parks Commission Minutes 07-19-2006 MIND ES PARKS COM ISSION Wednesday July 19, 006 - 4: 30 p.m. "To enhance community pride throgh developing and maintaining City parks with a stall ard of quality." Members Present: Fran Fair, Larry Nolan d Rick Traver Members Absent: Ben Hitter, Nancy McC ffrey and Council Liaison, Tom Perrault. Others Present: Public Works Director J hn Simola and City Administrator Rick W olfsteller. 1. Call to Order. Chair Nolan called the meeting to order at 4:30 .m. and declared a quorum present. 2. Consideration of bids for fencin for Rivers de Cemete . John Simola reviewed the results of the advertii ement for bids for the fencing at Riverside Cemetery. Three types of fencing were bid ea h including an option for decorative finials: 1) 4' high wrought iron fencing; 2) 4' high steel fen ing and 3) 4' high aluminum fencing. The aluminum fencing came in at the lowest price ith a low bid of $36,995.00 for 1225 linear feet of fencing. John Simola submitted pictures 0 the proposed fencing style for the Commission members to review. The fencing proposed is s milar in style to what is currently in place at Hillside Cemetery. John Simola noted that the existing fencing wi I be removed and what can be salvaged will be used along the east side of the cemetery. Park Department staffwill restore the salvaged fencing and install it next year. He also revie ed the work being done in this area as part of the 2006 Core Street Project. City Administrator Rick W olfsteller addressed funding for the work. He noted that certain improvements budgeted for in the 2005 budget had not been made so those funds could be used for this project. John Simola indicated that he had received requests from individuals for some of the old fencing so there might be some reve ue generated by the sale of some of the old fencing. The Park Commission felt that with the street' construction project occurring in this are it was an opportune time to make improvements to th cemetery. RICK TRAVER MOVED TO RECOMMEN GOING WITH THE LOW BID FROM AUTHORITY FENCE FOR 1225 LINEAR F ET OF 4' ALUMINUM FENCING AT A BID PRICE OF $36,995 AND TO KEEP THE PR JECT COST LOW NOT TO INCUDE THE OPTION FOR FINIALS. FRAN FAIR SECO DED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m. ~~=> Recording Secretary
