PLANNING COMMISSION

June 19, 1974
Regular meeting of the city Planning Commission was held
June 19, 1974 at 7:30 P. M.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. in the City
Hall by Chairman Chuck Stumpf. Members present: Maus,
Topel. J. W. Miller arrived about 45 minutes after the
meeting began. The meeting was unofficial due to the
lack of a quorum.
A presentation was made by Mr. Arve Grimsmo -- requesting
permission to build an addition to the front of the Monticello
Funeral Home at 530 W. Broadway. In this regard a motion
was made by Maus, seconded by Topel, to recommend to the
city council that a variance permit be issued to Mr. Grimsmo
to build a 15 foot addition on to the Funeral Home location.
Voting in favor: Maus, Topel, Stumpf. Absent: Miller, Muehl-
bauer, White. One seat remained vacated.
Mr. Grimsmo noted, that with city council approva~, con-
struction will probably begin within 30 days.

A presentation was made by Mr. R. Emerick and Mr. Roger
Host. Mr. Host requested that he be granted a variance
permit to build within 6" (inches) of his property line;
this would include the overhang. Richard Emerick stated
that as the adjacent neighbor he had no objection to the
permit.
It was the consensus of Planning Commission members present
that a variance permit should not be issued and that no
variance permits should be issued to build within 5 feet.
This recommendation is to be forwarded to the Council.
Several nominations were made to fill the post vacated by
the resignation of Mr. Mel Worth. Chairman Stumpf stated
he would contact the individuals considered and report
back at the next Planning Commission meeting.
Mr. Stumpf noted that the Christian Service Committee is
planning to build a utility building for use by all churches.
They would probably lease property across from the Catholic
church. It was the consensus of members present that ap-
propriate plans should be submitted to the Planning Comm.
It was noted that a conditional use permit will probably be
need.ed.
