City Council Minutes 03-04-1963March 4, 1963
Regular meeting of the village council held this date in the village council room.
Members present= Ojakangas.9 Adams, Baker, Kasper & Stmnson. Absent,- None.
Minutes of the meeting of Feb. 4 approved as read.
A discussion of the Dog ordinance was opened to a large number of represented dog
owners. Suggestions for changing the dog ordinance included, doing away -vritIj the
yearly license fee, reducing the penality for d3 befhzr�- picked -up and allowing.

Motion by Kasper to issue free 1963 dog tags to,those that have purchased there 1962
licenses. seconded by Adams & carried. Fur-Uqer action. on changes to the dog ordinance
tabled for further discus cion.

The Council met witA- the Monticello-Dic, Lake h6soitol board. The hospitol board
requested that the village vacate Elm street and Oak street in lower Monticello
between Broadway and the river. They also requested some relief on the assessments
of lots -4 4 4 5 of block 19; lots 1, 2, 3 & 4 of block 20; Lots 1 therm 10 in block
23 and lots tlaree thru 8 in block'24 of lower Ylonticello. There reaue8t also included
that condemnation proceedings be taken on that strip of land between lots 1 L- 2 of
block 19 and lots 9 & 10 6f block 24 if this would be found necesl-az-j- to obtain
a roadway Vhxou this strip of land. hese requests tabled for legal advise.
I..'Lr Boudreau of the 'Waterto-wer paint & repair Co. presented a contract for continuous

maintainence of the village watertmier at a cost o $475 0') per gear for -the first
two years and 8360.00 per year thereafter. this service would include cleaning the
tower wit i all neces'-,ary repairs each yecx, and painting the outside of the tower
after two years and each five years' thereafter . Action on this tabled until next
meeting.,
Ivnotion by Adams to vacate New street between fourth street and the railroad right t of
way. No second,
Motion by Swanson to -owy bills as read. Seconded by Adwas "a carried. A seporate list
of bills paid is on file in ti -.e village clerks office.
Lynn Smith br&ug'l,.t up the question of listing itinized bills paid mfDnthly in the
paper so the public would be better informed of village spendings. Eotion by Balker
to table until next moeting. Seconded by Adams & carried.
Yotion by Sivanson to give Moon motor sales the renewal of rental of a new police car
for one year at a cost of $125-00 per month. seconded by ada:ms & carried.
A request was presented by Stan Hall that the village naintainence c-Oew clean the
thrash from along side river street to the dirq) grounds once each week. The main-
tainence crew was instructed to clean this roadway now and from now on all people
halling, thrash to the durp would be responsable to pick up anything that falls
along this ftadway.

30X 40 feet on lots 1 L 2 of block 16,, Lower lionticello and to J. E. 11adsen to build
a 30 X 12 feet addition of steel or concrete to V back of his weldine�,

The clerk has been instructed to write to the county auditor requesting, a refund

Lotion by Kasper to transfer $5,,000.00 -Lrora the Liquor fund., $3500.00 from the

The Clerk was instructed to .Irite to the state 1"I'lighway dept. requesting permission t6
install a signal light at -Uhe intersection of Broadiza,r and Cedar st--eet. This light
to be controled by a switch in the fire barn and to be used only in case of fire.

and Big bake fire departments i fh er eby in the event of a fire in eit e er town the
fire department from the other town would assist -rritnout cost, and V,e fireman
