City Council Minutes 09-06-1968 Special1u� x 8:00 P.M. nugust 19, 1968 Special meeting of the Village Council held t�iis time and date at the Village Hall. Members present: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper, 'Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Members absent: None. Yir. E. Dorf, Mar. B. Kirscht, Mr. Iyi. Moores, and jar. `�.( Peterson, School Bozrd 'viembe.rs of ISD #882; and Mr. L. Senness, Superintendent of ISD #882, attended. the �'ouncil meeting at Council request to discuss the ,.he pros and cons ori the opening up of, 4th Street between Walnut and Pine Street to vehicular traffic.. The School Board Members felt that if this street were reopen it could create a safety problem, Council thought this problem could be eliminated by installing a fence on both sides of the school ,yard that border 4th Street and by putting proper traffic signs and clearly m=asking the crosswalks. Motion by Gouncilman `Eop' el to table the above discussion with the School Board Members until the October 1968 Council meeting. During this interim period a traffic survey.is to be conducted to see how much traffic will be gene;rate�d by Centra Sota in the area around the elementary school. Moti n seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried. Voting yes: Councilmen Kasper, fgoel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting- no: Mayor Sandberg. r • Motion by Councilman Schafer to appoint Mrs. A. Garlid, Mr. Wm Johgewaard, - Mrs. P. Walters, Im. Mrs. R. Soltau primary election judges and further to to apooint Mrs. Madsen as an alternate judge. Motign secopded by Councilman Kasper and carried. Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Kasper, Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting no: None Motion by Councilman Schaffer to approve of the following appointments to the Village Planning Commission: Mr. C. Johnson, Mr. D. Lungwitz, Dr. Erla,ndson, Mr. u. Schlief, Father Gearty) Mr. L. Senness, Mr. Bob Davis. Motion seconded by Councilman lopel and carried. Voting yes: Mayor S ndberg, Council.. men Kasperf Topel, Schaffer, and Swanberg. Voting no: None „ Clerk -Treasurer brought to the �'��`�`��'�� attendion of Council members that he felt additional help was needed in the Clerk --Treasurer's office.
