City Council Minutes 09-12-19676 7 8:00 P.T. September 12, 1967 r Re;ula.r meetin- of the Village Council held this time dnd date at the Village hall Members present: Mayor Erlandson, Councilman Sandberg, Kasper, Topel, and Schaffer. r Absent;hone. Minutes of the meetin- for august 81 1967, September 5th, and 8th, 1967 were read and approved. Mr. Larry Flake, of the Ford Garage, requested permission from Council tp,put a. electrical line underground at Maple Strut at the corner of Broadway and Maple. Motion by Councilman Scaaffer branting approval to the above request providing that they conform to the Minnesota Electrical Code, and that, ii, in the future the street has to be dug up, the above named party will b-ar all expenses in removing and replacing said underground power line. Motion seconded by Councilman Kasper and carried unanimously. lvs. Ojakangas, of the Monticello Planning; Committee, reported to Council his findings regarding getting financial assistance for the proposed Planning Program from outside sources. He stated that these sources felt that this was strictly a Village program and didn't want to be involved with it. Alsoq 1,r. Thore !Meyer spoke to RJDd txx Council at its request about Village Planning Programs and iAiat they could expect from these programs. Council and the Village Planning Committee decided to meet smith � tre professional planners to di.scuss*4 the proposed planning program. Mr. Doug Pitt discussed with 'Council about getting; the Village' to put'a 'no truck parkin;' sign up in front of his "uneral horse. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to approve of a 'no parking truck' sign for the above named place. The sign is to read, to Truck Parking for 100 feet between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m." Also, that the coat of�suc.;h sign avill be no mor-- than $8.0d. Motion by Councilman Kasper to table this discussion until Council has discussed tl.is matter with the Villago- Attorney who is currently up -dating, all Village ordinances. Motion seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried unanimously. lviotion by Councilman Schaffer to have 200 Welcome Wagon informational letters printed diving pertinent information about the Village., These lett-rs are to be given out to all new -comers to the Village in conjunction urith the local businessmen'-- Welcome usinessmen'.Welcome rvTaoon program. Motion seconded by Councilman Topel and carried. unanimously. Motion by Councilman Kasper to accept Mr. Jay Miller Is bid for the construction of the Ellison park sign. Idiotion second -d by Councilman Topel and carried unanimously. Mr. Doug, Pitt discussed -with Council the vacant burial plots at Hillside Cemetery. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to have the Village Clerk find out the cost of Navin, the above cemetery surveyed and the vacant burial plots layed out and a report submitted to Council for the estimated cost of this proposed project. Motion seconded by Councilman Kasper and carried unanimously. Motion by Councilman Kasper to issue a buildinr- ptrmit ,#19'7-20 to Ivr. Edward W. Schaffer to build a garage 26' X 272' on Lots 9, 7yQ,& -Si /' of Lot I.L2 Block 489 Monticello proper. motion seconded by CouncilFn Topel and carried unanimously. Village Council reviewed the McCarthy Well Company's 18 Point Performance Check. I01otion by Councilman Kasper to authorize the Village to do necessary repair on Village water pump. Motion seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried unanimously. 68 (continued September 12, 19,67) Motion by Councilman Topel to contract with Satellite Service WAX Company for two sa_ni-tary toiletsfrom December 15, 1967, through February 15, 1968, at the cost stated in their letter datad August 15, 1967, Motion seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried unanimously. Motion' by Councilman Kasper to'hire Fir. Lawrence LaEree to tape care of thb Village skating; rink when it is opened. He is to be paid at the r�Lte of a $1.75 per hour for this job„ Motion seconded by Councilman Schaffer and carried unanimously. Council discussed the proposed Senior Citizen Club and Village financial assistance for it. Ylotion.by Councilman Sandberg that the Village contribute $100.00 per month toward the Senior Citizen Club commencing on date of operation of said club. Motion seconded by Ccuncilman Schaffer and carried 'unanimously.
