City Council Minutes 04-21-1969 Special8:.00 p.m. April 21, 1969 Special meeting; of the Village Council held this time and date at the Village Hall. Members presents Mayor William Sandberg, Councilmen Ed. Schaffer, .Franz Swanberg, J. W. Miller, Jr.,'- .`rMembers absent: Councilman Maus. Motion by Councilman Schaffer to approve`of paying the following part-time %employees of the 1V11unicipal Liquor Store for work performed from the lst through 15th of April 1969: Mr. G. Barthel $48.13, Mr. J. Roth $51.25, Mr. R. Gleaton $50.00, and Mir. R. Brauch $75.00. Motion seconded by Councilman Swanberg and carried. Voting yes: Mayor Sandberg, Councilmen Franz Swanberg, J. W. Miller, Jr., and Ed Schaffer. Voting no: None. Council discussed the quarterly audit of the Municipal Liquor Store that was conducted for January, February, and March 1969,pas to why there should be a shortage in the On Sale and Off Sale liquor„ It was decided that another audit should be conducted by Gruys, Johnson, and Associates, CPA firm for the month of April 1969 to ascertain the problem area in the Municipal Liquor Store. Present at this meeting to discuss a wage dispute regarding the Municipal Liquor Store bartenders wages were Mr. Gordon Stokes, Manager; YX. Duane Moses, Bartender; Mr. Gary Holman, Bartender; Mr. Claude Johnston; -Bartender; Yx' . G. Roth, Hart -time bartender; and Mr. D. Gleaton, part-time bartender. Mayor Sandberg asked how this problem came about in having to close the On Sale portion of the Municipal Liquor Store.. Councilman Ifiiller reported the following He wa at the Municipal Liquor Store with a, friend at approximately 6:00 p.m. when Duane Moses came out from behind the bar and informed him that he was through tending bar and so were,Gary Holman and Claude Johnston unless Council paid them $3.00 per hour for all hours worked in the liquor store. Further, they stated that if they were not given this raise immediately, they were all walking out. Councilman Miller stated that D. bioses, G. Holman, and Claude Johnston stopped s-erving customers. D. Moses and G. Holman stepped out from behind the bar. Mr. Johnston stayed behind the bar but refused to serve any drinks. Mr. Miller stated that he called Councilman Schaffer of the Liquor Committee and the Chief of Police. He acid after Councilman and the Chief of Police arrived they closed the On Sale portion of the Municipal Liquor Store. Mayor Sandberg asked Mr. Duane Moses, bartender, what their main problem was at the liquor store. Mr. Moses stated that the full time bartenders wanted $3,00 per hour straight time. Council stated that they had negotiated wages
