Roads and Streets Commission Meeting
March 6, 19'75 - 11 A.M. City Hall
Present: Arve Grimsmo, Milton Olson, Dale Lungwitz.
In attendance: Dick Brooks, John Badalich and Gary Wieber.
Discussion centered on maintenance building and the
following were the recommendations of the commission.
Need - definitely a need for such a facility to house the
public works department's equipment.
Site - ideal site would be lot 1 of block 14 and block 13.
The portion of block 15 owned by the city would be a possibility
provided the city could get access from Highway 25. It was felt
the sewer and water plant should be eliminated from consider-
ation due to location, lot limitations and possibility that
present sewer and water facility may need room for expansion.
Cost - After reviewing cost of both a structural steel and
cement block building with the consulting city engineer it
was felt an adequate amount ought to be put on April 8th
ballot to allow for concrete block building and land acqui-
sition. If the building is approved the specific merits of
each type of building could be looked into anal there might
be a possibility that a combination steel and cement block
building might be suitable.
It was the recommendation of the commission to have parallel
parking on both sides of the street on Walnut St. from Broad-
way south to the alley.
Meeting adjourned at 12:15 P.M.
