Christie - Area Maintenance Engineer, St. Cloud Mr. Dale Lungwitz Mr. Arve Grimsmo Mr. Bob Rierson Mr. Thore Meyer Mr. Kevin LaFrance Mr. Bud McCollough - Traffics Engineer, Brainerd A discussion centered on possible cloverleaf at I-g4 & Highway 25 at Monticello. Mr. Rierson stated the City is primarily concerned about <~ ,. _. ~ ~_, a safety factor by the Interstate. Mr. McCollough stated that the State normally would not consider a cloverleaf until the ~~diamond~~ could not handle traffic. A discussion centered on the proposed entranceway into the Thunderbird Mall area from Highway 25. Mr. C. W. Christie stated he does not believe Bureau Investment Corporation requested a permit for a Highway 25 entrance; Skelly Oil Company had done this previously, but it was never changed. Mr. Meyer suggested to the Administrator that Bureau Investment Corp. should be notified immediately that there is a problem with a Highway 25 entrance. (Mr. Howard Reksted of Bureau Investment Corp. was notified on this date.) A discussion centered on possible lighting of the Interstate area. Mr. Christie indicated there is not much chance of Slh~ate financing of lighting at this time - approximate cost would be $1$,000.00. Mr. McCollough stated the stoplights at the Intersection of Broadway and Highway 25 will need to be changed shortly. Approximate cost X45,000.00; State would pay half of cost as long as it is a State road. Page 2 ROADS & STREETS COMMISSION Meeting of March 14, 1974 Mr. McCollough stated the following volume of traffic is needed to justify stop-lights: (1) 400-$00 cars an hour for 8 hours (2) The cross street requires 150 cars per hour. The Highway Department will~~be reviewing traffic: patterns in Monticello. Mr. Christie noted the Highway Department will be working with Bureau Investm,®r~~i Corp. , and~or Country Builders in an attempt to determine a proper entrance-exit for the mall.
