RESOLUTION NO. 2011-115
APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AUTHORIZING
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR MCC NATATORIUM IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT NO. 11C006
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 42011-79 approved by the City Council on August 22, 2011
authorizing preparation of final plans and specifications for the MCC Natatorium Improvements,
and pursuant to a motion approved by the City Council on November 14, 2011 authorizing
alternates to the preliminary plans and specifications, Wold Architects, with input from the City
Engineer and Natatorium Committee, has prepared plans and specifications for said
improvements including various electrical, mechanical and structural improvements identified as
the base bid, as well as fitness area expansion and door frame replacement improvements
identified for the alternate bids.
WHEREAS, Wold Architects and the City Engineer have presented such plans and
specifications to the Council for approval;
NO W THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED B Y THE CITY COUNCIL OF MONTICELL O,
MINNESOTA:
1. Such plans and specifications, a copy of which is on file in the offices of the City Clerk,
are hereby approved.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the City's official paper and in
either a newspaper published in a city of the first class or in relevant trade paper(s) an
advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans
and specifications. The advertisement shall be published no less than three weeks before
the last day for submission of bids, once in the City's legal publication and at least once
in either a newspaper published in a city of the first class or a trade paper. To be eligible
as a trade paper, a publication shall have all the qualifications of a legal newspaper except
that, instead of the requirement that it shall contain general and local news, such trade
paper shall contain building and construction news of interest to contractors in this state,
among whom it shall have a general circulation.
The advertisement shall specify the work to be done, and shall state that bids will be
opened at the time and place specified for the bid opening of the MCC Natatorium
Improvements, and that the award of the bid and the responsibility of the bidders will be
considered by the City Council at the next regularly scheduled Council meeting in the
Council Chambers of City Hall. Any bidder whose responsibility is questioned during
consideration of the bid will be given an opportunity to address the Council on the issue
of responsibility. No bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City and
accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to
the City for 5% of the amount of such bid.
