RESOLUTION NO. 2013-013
ACCEPTING FEASIBILITY REPORT, CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARING, AND
AUTHORIZING PREPARATION OF FINAL PLAT AND PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR WEST 7TH STREET EXTENSION (MINNESOTA TO ELM),
CITY PROJECT NO. 12C002
WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution of the Council adopted August 27, 2012, a feasibility report
has been prepared by the City Engineer with reference to proposed improvements to West 7`h
Street between Minnesota Street and Elm Street, including the construction of streets, pathways,
sidewalks, curb and gutter, street and pathway lighting, stormwater ponds, public utilities, and
other appurtenant work; and,
WHEREAS, the feasibility report was received by the City Council on March 25, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, the report provides information regarding whether the proposed project is
necessary, cost - effective and feasible;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBYRESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA:
The Council authorizes preparation of the final plat and final plans and specifications for
the proposed improvements for said streets in accordance with the feasibility report and
the assessment of abutting properties for all or a portion of the cost of the improvements
pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 429 at an estimated total cost of the
improvements of $1,265,000.
2. The Council authorizes staff to add two alternate bid items to the plans and specifications
including an option to mill and overlay West 7th Street between Golf Course Road /CR 39
and Elm Street, and the potential conversion of Elm Street, south of West 7th Street, from
a rural gravel surfaced roadway to a bituminous paved section pending the support of the
adjacent property owners.
A public hearing shall be held on such proposed improvements on the 8th day of April,
2013 in the Council Chambers of City Hall at 7 p.m. and the Clerk shall give mailed and
published notice of such hearing and improvements as required by law.
