RESOLUTION NO. 2013-056
ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE WEST 7TH STREET
EXTENSION AND RELATED IMPROVEMENTS,
CITY PROJECT NO. 12CO02
WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the project which included a base bid and
two alternate bids. The base bid consisting of the extension of West 7th Street from Minnesota
Street to Elm Street, including street, utility and pathway construction, drainage improvements,
and other necessary appurtenant work. The alternate bids consisting of. (1) mill and overlay of
West 7th Street from Elm Street to County Road 39 (Golf Course Road) including an underlying
chip seal, and (2) paving of the gravel segment of Elm Street south of West 7th Street to the I -94
terminus including a small turnaround. Bids were received, opened, and tabulated, and the
following bids were found to comply with the advertisement for bids:

WHEREAS, the bid of Kuechle Underground, Inc. of Kimball, MN in the amount of
$998,881.00 for the total base bid plus both alternate bids for the construction of said
improvements, in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and advertisement for
bids, is the lowest responsible bidder and shall be and hereby is accepted.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREB Y RESOL VED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MONTICELLO:
1. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a
contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of
the City of Monticello.
2. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all
bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder
and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
