RESOLUTION NO. 2003-10
SUPPORTING THE CONTINUED OPERATION OF
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT
OWNED BY XCEL ENERGY AND MANAGED BY NUCLEAR MANAGEMENT
COMPANY
WHEREAS, a reliable, low cost and environmentally sound electric supply is critical to economic
well-being; and
WHEREAS, in 2002 the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant provided approximately 10% of the energy
used in the State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant has been a close neighbor to the City of Monticello
for over 30 years, and we believe the plant has been and will continue to be operated safely; and
WHEREAS, the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant provides over 500 full-time jobs and contributes
significantly to the local and state economy,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the City Council of Monticello go on record supporting the
continued operation of the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant.
