City Council Resolution 1999-52RESOLUTION NO. 99-52 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID PROJECT NO. 98-13C WALNUT STREET EXTENSION AND PROJECT NO. 98-08C CHELSEA ROAD EXTENSION WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the improvement of Walnut Street from 7th Street north to the railroad tracks by the installation of bituminous paving, concrete curb and gutter, parking improvements and all other appurtenant work and the improvement of Chelsea Road East from Cedar Street to County Road 117/Oakwood Drive by the installation of sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, streets and all other appurtenant work, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: BIDDER WALNUT STREET CHELSEA ROAD TOTAL AMOUNT Buffalo Bituminous $204,897.75 $489,403.75 $644,301.50 Bauerly Bros. Inc. $221,649.14 $501,501.34 $7231150.48 Richard Knutson, Inc. $279,613.48 $529,890.53 $809,604.01 WHEREAS, it appears that Buffalo Bituminous, Inc. of Buffalo, Minnesota is the lowest responsible bidder, NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF MONTICELLO, MINNESOTA: 1. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Buffalo Bituminous, Inc. of Buffalo, Minnesota in the name of the City of Monticello for the improvement of Walnut Street from 7 t" Street north to the railroad tracks by the installation of bituminous paving, concrete curb and gutter, parking improvements and all other appurtenant work and the improvement of Chelsea Road East from Cedar Street to County Road 117/Oakwood Drive by the installation of sanitary sewer, watermain, storm sewer, and all other appurtenant work according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Administrator. 2. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
