City Council Resolution 1998-04RESOLUTION NO. 98-4 RESOLUTION ADOPTING CITY COUNCIL AND STAFF POSITION ON INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT WHEREAS, city government recognizes that maintaining and expanding a strong industrial tax base is critical to the overall economy of Monticello; WHEREAS, the city of Monticello has been reliant on tax revenue generated by NSP, and recognizes the declining contribution they are likely to make to our city budget, and recognizing the need to try and replace said loss; WHEREAS, city government is perceived by many to have an undesirable reputation as being resistant to industrial growth and development in past years; WHEREAS, the city staff and council recognize the importance of minimising any and all negative public perception concerning industrial development; WHEREAS, city council and staffwants to be widely recognized as an industrial friendly community; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, city council and staff are committed to finding creative, flexible, and helpful ways to encourage any and all future industrial growth in the community, and will do everything possible to present a positive image toward those persons attempting to buy, build, develop, or expand in the city of Monticello.
