MINNESOTA
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Monticello, Minnesota, was called to order
by Mayor William Fair at 7 p.m. in the council chambers of the city hall, Monticello, Minnesota,
on May 26, 1998.
The following Council members were present: Bill Fair, dint Herbst, Brian Stumpf,
Roger Carlson, Bruce Thielen
The following Council members were absent: none
A motion to adopt the following resolution was made by Bruce Thielen and seconded
by Roger Carlson
RESOLUTION 98- 22
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION OF PROPERTY
FOR COMMUNITY CENTER PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello, by and through its City Council and the Monticello Housing
and Redevelopment Authority, has authorized construction of a community center for the City of
Monticello; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned community center will consist of the following facilities:
(a) City of Monticello city offices;
(b) National Guard offices and assembly areas;
(c) Recreational facilities;
(d) Provision of meeting facilities for community organizations;
(e) Facilities for social events;
(f) Senior citizen center;
(g} Youth center; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to acquire certain real property for the construction of a community
center;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved:
1. The City staff, including the City Attorney and such other staff as may be necessary, are
hereby directed to proceed with the acquisition of the property described in the attached
Exhibit A; and
2. Acquisition of the property described in Exhibit A is for a public purpose, namely, the
construction of a community center; and
3. The City shall proceed by quick take if, in the reasonable judgment of the City Attorney
and City Administrator, such procedure is reasonably necessary for the timely completion
of the community center project.
The following Council members voted in favor: Bill Fair, Bruce Thielen, Roger Carlson
The following Council members voted against or abstained: dint Herbst, Brian Stumpf
Whereupon the motion was declared duly passed and executed.
