City Council Resolution 1996-02RESOLUTION 96-2 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LEMT ALONG SCHOOL BOULEVARD WHEREAS, the City of Monticello recently completed construction and opened to the public a major east/west transportation route between State Highway 25 and County Road 118; and WHEREAS, this street, known as School Boulevard, abuts the grounds of an elementary and a middle school property a total distance of approximately 4,000 ft; and WHEREAS, the Monticello Police Commission was presented with a traffic survey and recommendations completed by the Wright County Sheriff's Department (the local police authority) for the School Boulevard area recommending a reduction in the posted 45 mph along the school property when children are present to 30 mph from Fallon Avenue to County Road 118; and WHEREAS, the Police Commission agreed with the Sheriff Department's recommendation to establish a school zone speed limit of 30 mph and forwarded this request to the City Council for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF MONTICELLO: 1. The traffic study as presented to the Police Commission by the Sheriff's Department is accepted as presented in regard to establishment of a school speed zone. 2. The recommendation for establishing a 30 mph school zone speed limit when children are present from Fallon Avenue to County Road 118 along School Boulevard is hereby approved. 3. The public works department is authorized to install the appropriate traffic signs and school zone speed limits along School Boulevard between Fallon Avenue and County Road 118. 4. A copy of this resolution and related traffic study shall be forwarded to the Commissioner of Transportation. Adopted by the City Council this 8th day of Ja: City Administrat
