RESOLUTION SUPPORTING MONTICELLO/DUNGANNON
NORTHERN IRELAND ROTARY CLUBS EXCHANGE INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, a connection between communities now exists through the Children's
Program of Northern Ireland. Under this program, Monticello families have hosted
children from Dungannon schools with both Rotary clubs providing financial support;
WHEREAS, the two Rotary clubs have initiated establishment of a deeper
relationship between communities in areas of arts and culture, education, religion,
government, economic development, business and trade, professional services;
WHEREAS, the citizens of Monticello, through development of the Norway -based H -
Window Company, have direct experience with the economic benefits associated with
fostering international trade;
WHEREAS, the City of Dungannon is similar to Monticello, Minnesota, in terms of
size and proximity to a major urban area;
WHEREAS, the Monticello/Dungannon Rotary Club exchange initiative has the
potential to lead to social and economic connections that could improve the quality
of life and standard of living for citizens from both communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF MONTICELLO,
MINNESOTA, that the City of Monticello hereby commends the Monticello and
Dungannon Rotary Clubs for their exchange initiative and supports exploration of the
opportunities that the Monticello/Dungannon exchange could bring.
