City Council Resolution 1992-07RESOLUTION 92-7 RESOLUTION REQUESTING U.S. POSTAL SERVICE TO CONSIDER EXPANSION OF THEIR FACILITIES IN A DOWNTOWN AREA WHEREAS, the City of Monticello is aware of the U.S. Postal Services' need for an enlarged postal facility to service Monticello residents; and WHEREAS, the postal service is currently considering construction of a new facility near I-94 and Highway 25; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the importance of the post office to the downtown area because of the convenience it provides to its residents and the business community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: The City Council requests that the U.S. Postal Service investigate and re-evaluate the possibility of expansion of the present post office facility in the downtown area of Monticello. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Monticello HRA investigate the feasibility of assisting the Postal Service in additional land acquisition that may be necessary, including consideration of any financial incentives that maybe appropriate to encourage expansion at the present site or another suitable site near the downtown area.
